At James Bay Dental, the technology we use helps to inform treatment planning and make your dental appointments as efficient as possible.
Because we can display digital X-rays and scans on the monitors in our treatment rooms, we can show you any concerns in your mouth and thoroughly explain your treatment plan.
Our goal is to provide patients with complete dental care while making sure they are fully informed about their oral health. Dental technology helps us accomplish that.
Digital X-Rays
Digital X-rays use digital sensors instead of traditional photographic X-ray film. They produce highly enhanced computer images of the teeth and gums, oral structures, and conditions. This allows our dentists to examine parts of the mouth that are not visible to the naked eye while reducing radiation exposure when compared to traditional X-rays.
Panoramic X-Rays
Panoramic X-rays allow our dentists to create a single image of your entire mouth. This image is a flat representation of the teeth, upper and lower jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), as well as nasal and sinus structures. Panoramic X-rays assist in treatment plans for dentures, braces, extractions, and implants for our patients.
Oral Cancer Screening Device
The VELscope® is an oral cancer screening device that helps our dentists identify abnormalities and diseases in the mouth including cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Using fluorescence visualization technology, this can be performed in our dental office during routine exams and under normal lighting conditions in about two minutes.
